Eugene Robert Eckert

Eugene “Bob” Robert Eckert Jr., 80, of Fremont, OH passed away on March 5, 2026 at 7:16 a.m. at Blanchard Valley Bridge Hospice in Findlay, OH. Bob was born on August 11, 1945 to Eugene R. and Marjorie “Marge” (Savercool) Eckert Sr. in Columbus, OH. He was a graduate of Hawthorne High School in New Jersey. Bob married Joyce Marlene Reliford in December 1969 and she preceded him in death in September 1991.

Bob served in the United States Army from June 1970 to June 1972. He earned the National Defense Service Medal. He then attended Pikeville College where he received his bachelor’s degree in education. Bob was a Teacher at Croghan Elementary School for thirty-five years, retiring in 2007. Bob enjoyed sports, including tennis, golf and the New York Yankees. He was a member of Grace Community Church. He enjoyed being part of the YakPak and having breakfast with his friends every month.

Bob is survived by his son Paul (Renae) Eckert, Wapakoneta, OH; grandchildren Rylen, Amelya, Lydia and brother, David Eckert, Hawthorne, NJ.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joyce “Marlene” Eckert.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Grace Community Church, 900 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420.

Funeral Services will follow visitation at 12 noon at the church.  

Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Fremont VFW and American Legion.

Memorials can be made in Bob’s honor to Grace Community Church, Croghan Elementary School or the Ohio Veterans Association.
