Paul Jimmy Gillispie, 75, of Independence, KY, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025. Paul was born in Georgetown, KY, on June 11, 1950, to James and Dorothy Gillispie. Paul, known as Jim or Jimmy, was a loving father and brother. Preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his son Jason, sister Debbie, nephew Dennis, niece Melissa, several great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
A loyal and dedicated father and brother, Jim loved his son and sister. In his younger years, he enjoyed his free time going to car shows, camping and fishing with his son and taking trips with him to visit his sister in Tennessee.
Jim's loyalty and dedication were also apparent as a long time meter reader for Duke Energy until he retired after nearly 40 years. A loyal and dedicated "company man", that you don't really see anymore.
Later in life, Jim spent most of his days enjoying visits from his devoted son and spending his time with his dog Millie watching old westerns, classic car shows, cartoons, Andy Griffith and Paw Patrol in the comfort of his recliner.
He was also a long time member of Seven Hills Church in Florence, KY.
Suffering from chronic pain for over a decade, a constant battle to balance pain with things he enjoyed. Jim would spend holidays and birthdays, when he could, with his son and his girlfriend, his ex-wife and her husband.
A spark of life, energy and his goofy personality would show itself in him every once in a while. In 2020, Jim and his son worked on his 1968 Camaro and got it running again, after over 30 years of it sitting in the garage. Much like Jim, the car sat for a while at home, then sped down the highway a short distance in a body about ready to fall apart - "we're up to 70 Jason...80!...90!", then back home again.
Diagnosed in February of 2025, Jim succumbed to complications from pancreatic cancer. With his Son, Sister and Nephew by his side, Jim passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please honor him with a dedication/donation to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 2167, Lexington, KY 40588.
Visitation will begin at 11 AM with the Funeral Service to follow at 12 PM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 US 42, Florence, KY 41042. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger, KY. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.stithfuneralhome.com
