Princeton - Paul Edward Green, 76, of Princeton, IL, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Manor Court in Princeton.
Paul was born on July 20, 1949, in Chicago, IL, to Josephine "Shirley" Green. He graduated from Wyanet High School graduating Class of 1968. After graduation he joined the United States Army serving from 1969 to 1971, ranking as an Intelligence Speed Radio Operator. He also received the National Defense Service Medal.
Following his military service, he worked for his Uncle Dick at Green's Home Improvement, then with LCN, where he worked as a shift supervisor until his retirement in 2013.
A proud and active member of the community, Paul belonged to the Princeton Moose Lodge #1339 and the Princeton American Legion Post #125. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and showcasing his pride and joy, a 1941 Willys, in local car shows.
He is survived by his three children, Michael (Thy) VanderMeersch of Phoenix, AZ, Lance VanderMeersch (Teri Richardson) of Phoenix, AZ, and Michele VanderMeersch of Princeton, IL; as well as five grandchildren, Tieg (Drew) Carpenter of Princeton, IL, Lucas Sisler of Princeton, IL, Dante VanderMeersch of Phoenix, AZ, Karli VanderMeersch of Phoenix, AZ, and Marissa VanderMeersch of Phoenix, AZ.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine "Shirley" Green.
