Paul Stinard Hacker

Hacker, Paul Stinard ALBANY On Friday, July 23, 2021, Paul passed away at the age of 77. He was born in Albany on December 22, 1943, to Mary Margaret Stinard and John Wesley Hacker. After graduating from Albany High School in 1962, Paul's adventurous spirit led him to Cologne, Germany where he spent the next year as a guest worker, becoming fluent in German and immersing himself in his family's Germanic ancestry. Paul graduated from Tarkio College with a B.S. in history and joined the U.S. Navy, serving as a translator in the Vietnam War. He retired from the federal government in 2002. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, reading extensively, and making new friends as a New York City tour guide, volunteering within his community and serving as president of the Friends & Foundation of the Albany Public Library. Paul cherished his family, sharing a generational passion for Vermont's Green Mountains and the majestic 1000 Islands. In addition to his parents, his brother, Dr. Louis Hacker and his sister, Mary Jane Glauber, preceded Paul in death. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Ann Hacker; his children, Rosemary (Anthony) Underwood, Christopher (Kate) Hacker, Marlene (Joseph) Macri and Laura Hacker; his grandchildren, Rosemary, Anthony and Christina Macri and William Hacker; as well as his siblings, Edith (Roy) Hacker Hauger and John (Donna) Hacker and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
