Paul T. Hansen, of Peoria, passed away at 8:02 PM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at his residence.
Born July 29, 1945 in Geneseo, IL to Boyd R. and Frances C. Hansen. He grew up on a farm two miles north of Sheffield, Il. Paul graduated from Western High School in Buda, IL in 1963 and from St. Ambrose University in 1967 with a degree in accounting, of which he made a career as a CPA. Paul honorably served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1967-1973 and was discharged with rank of Specialist 5.
He worked in public accounting with Clifton-Gunderson CPA's and was controller for Bensons Maytag Appliances, an appliance store chain. He also served as controller and Chief Financial Officer for 17 years with Catholic Charities, Diocese of Peoria, retiring in May of 2007. Paul enjoyed walking, fishing and golfing. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed special time with family and friends.
Paul spent summer vacations in Northern Wisconsin in Minocqua, WI, fishing, golfing and enjoying the Northwoods. He was a lifelong Catholic and member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Mary Hansen; two nieces: Michele (Mike) Hansen-Flaherty and Kelly Hansen; great nieces Reagan Flaherty, Drew Flaherty, and Molly Brandenburg; great nephews Cole Hansen and Cooper Brandenburg.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Randy.
"Uncle Paul was a truly kind and generous soul-friendly, loving, and always a joy to be around. His presence brought warmth and happiness to those lucky enough to know him. He was always genuinely interested in our families and was an amazing uncle, a devoted brother, a thoughtful brother-in-law, a loyal friend, and a cherished son. We will miss him."
Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 9:00 AM until time of Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Father Greg Jozefiak will officiate, and entombment will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum.
