Paul A. LaJeunesse, 77 of Moosup, died unexpectedly after a brief illness at Backus Hospital on October 15th, 2025.
He was born in Norwich on October 21st, 1947 to the late Lucien and Anita (Desaulniers) Lajeunesse, both of whom predeceased him. He is also predeceased by his wife, Denise L. LaJeunesse (LaHaie) and his in-laws L. Roch and Lorette LaHaie.
Paul leaves behind his companion, Barbara Lord (Valerie and John); daughters, Mandy Adams-LaJeunesse and her wife Maurena; Cari-Ann Palmer; and his son, Paul J. LaJeunesse and his wife Jackie Bunch. He also will be deeply missed by his 2 sisters, Pat (Joe Collelo), and Phyllis (John Morris) and a brother Phillip Lajeunesse (Debbie); his grandchildren, Avery, Gavin, Jordan and several step-grandsons.
Paul lived in Moosup his whole life, attending All Hallows School and after graduating from Plainfield High School in 1965, he enlisted in the Army National Guard of Connecticut, where he was a sharpshooter and spent 6 years until his honorable discharge in 1971. Prior to the service, Paul started working by delivering newspapers by bicycle and then working with Roch, who was a florist at the time. After the Army, he joined his father-in-law in creating Roch's Plumbing and Heating business, and was well known throughout the area for many years for his excellent service. He continued plumbing for Lowes as a subcontractor for over 17 years until he retired in 2019.
In his spare time, Paul was active in many things such as the Knights of Columbus and he loved baseball, especially watching the Boston Red Sox. He started umpiring at a young age for the Little League in town and then continued on with high school and college games for CBUA. Paul also loved being a referee for local high schools for IAABO. Another of his other past times was going to the beach, enjoying the sunshine and traveling, especially to Florida. In recent years, Paul has become an active member of the Veterans Coffee House of Eastern Connecticut, where he has made numerous friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025 from 10am - noon at the Dougherty Brothers Funeral Home, 595 Norwich Rd.,
Plainfield, CT with Military Honors rendered at 11:45am. Burial will be private at the State of Connecticut Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown, CT.
