Paul Kenneth Lewis (May 2, 1941 – October 8, 2025)
Paul Kenneth Lewis, 84, died on October 8, 2025, at his home in Smyrna, DE.
Paul was born on May 2, 1941, in Ticonderoga, NY. Growing up, he lived in Ticonderoga and Crown Point before settling in Ballston Spa, NY, in his teens. He graduated from Ballston Spa High School in 1959 before joining the Air Force, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic, maintaining and flying military planes. One of his assignments landed him at Dover AFB (Dover, DE) in 1960, where he fell in love with Delaware and decided to stay after his honorable discharge in 1963. In 1964, he married Catherine L. Rash, and they had two children. They remained married for 53 years until Catherine's death. He worked for Sears for a few years, then spent 38 years at Playtex from 1967 until he retired in 2005.
Paul had several hobbies, including driving stock cars in his youth and collecting steam engines; he attended numerous steam and gas engine shows throughout the years, especially the ones at Tuckahoe near Easton, MD, and in Federalsburg, MD. He also loved country music, primarily classic artists like Elvis, and oldies from the '50s and '60s.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, in 2017; his brother, Donald Lewis, in 2015; his sisters, Loretta Brayman and Dale Lewis, in 2018; and his parents, Kenneth D. Lewis in 1975, and Elizabeth M. Lewis in 1987.
He is survived by a daughter, Tammy M. Lewis, son Patrick K. Lewis and his wife Amanda, and granddaughter Paige E. Lewis, all of Smyrna; a brother, John Lewis and his wife Mary Ann of Corinth, NY; nephew Damien Lewis and his wife Laura of Clayton, DE; a niece, Robin Simmons of Kissimmee, FL, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on October 20, 2025, at Faries Funeral Home, 29 S. Main Street, Smyrna, DE 19977. Friends and family may offer their condolences at the viewing from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Services will be held at 12:00 pm, followed by interment at 2:00 pm at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
