Paul Edward Panus Sr.

Paul Edward Panus, Sr., 82, of Houston passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Paul was born May 4, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri to Peter and Mary Syron Panus. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Fox Panus; children, Paul Edward Panus, Jr. & wife Lynn, Kevin Michael Panus & wife Kathleen, Stephanie Anne Panus & husband Raymond Weaver; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Panus, John Randall Panus, Kelly Marie Wheeler & husband Kevin; great grandchildren, Clayton Lee Wheeler, Addilyn Marie Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his sister Marie Penrod and husband Nick Penrod. Paul is also survived by extended family and good friends.
Paul grew up in the St. Louis, Missouri area where he attended William Cullen McBride High School. After high school he joined the Westinghouse Elevator Division, working full time while also working part time at Schnuk's Grocery, where he was active on the company softball team. The family moved to Texas in 1973, and several years later Paul and two colleagues started Elevator Service Professional, which they eventually sold to Thyssen-Krupp, where he finished his career. Paul was an active member of the BOMA/IREM community. Most of all, Paul was devoted to his family and the Church. He loved spending time with his family, and he and Joyce made some of their best memories cruising to exciting locations. He spent many years coaching girls softball at Memorial Ashford Little League, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed running, even participating in the Houston Marathon. Paul was a longtime member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic minister for fifteen years. He was loved by those who knew him and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 16, 2023 at 1:00 PM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079.
