Paul Anthony Pietrzyk peacefully passed from this life on October 26, 2024. He was born on March 27,
1961, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Dominic and Marjorie Pietrzyk. Beloved husband of Melisa.
Loving brother to Mary and Timothy, adoring uncle to Kathryn (Joshua) and Brendan (Ryan). Family and
friends fondly remember Paul and he will be dearly missed.
Paul grew up surrounded by hard-working people and their work ethic was equally instilled in him. His
maternal grandmother, Helen, was instrumental to his upbringing and she always held a special place in
his heart... right next to his Aunt Lulu! His young life was full of love and laughter and playing with his
sister Mary and neighborhood friends. He loved dogs; and his first, Tiger, never left his memory even as
dementia stole all the others. He learned to play guitar while in high school at Benedictine and many
friends likely have a tough time picturing Paul without "the axe." He wrote songs and loved to play at
parties and around a campfire. Everyone who knew Paul considered him Bob Seger's biggest fan! In
college, Paul joined Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He often remarked that becoming a Sig Ep was one of
the best decisions he ever made as it changed his life for the better in every way. Friendships, his
career, finding his wife; all rooted in his bonds with his brothers. Paul graduated from Lawrence
Institute of Technology with degrees in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering, then was hired by Ford
Motor Company. During his 37-year tenure, he continued his education at the University of Michigan
and Lawrence Tech, completing two master's degrees. He was an accomplished engineer and
immensely proud of his work. He was loyal to Ford and cherished so many people with whom he
worked. He spent his free time enjoying his family, friends, dogs, bike riding, renovating his homes,
kayaking, sailing, and getting to the Pacific Northwest every chance he could. Though never blessed
with children, his niece and nephew filled that emptiness, and he treasured them as if they were his
own. Paul was creative, industrious, and quick with a smile. He enjoyed puns, silly jokes and "spinning a
yarn." He would remind us, "most of what I say is not made up!". And let us never forget how special
he made Halloween!
Paul loved life and lived with no regrets. Sadly, his body fell to the ravages of early onset dementia. We
thank God that his suffering in this world has ended and pray Paul is in His warm embrace and made
whole again. To honor Paul, please let his zest and spirit echo in your heart.
Wake will be Wednesday November 20, 2024, from 5 to 8 pm at The Townsend Hotel, 100 Townsend
Street, Birmingham, Michigan. Memorial service will be Thursday November 21, 2024, 11 am, at Ford
House, Visitor Center Lake Shore Room, 1100 Lakeshore Road, Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan. In lieu
of flowers, the family appreciates memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or Michigan
Animal Rescue League.
