Paul “Pops” Lavoie Williams, 88, of DeBary, Florida, formerly of Moultrie, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 23, 2024, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, with Pastor Ricky McLaughlin officiating. Interment will follow at Suncrest Memorial Garden. Davey Williams, Donnie Purvis, Dewayne Purvis, Michael Hudnall, Matthew Purvis, and Colt Swords will serve as pallbearers. Frank Swords, Bobby Wiard, Lanier Wiard, Dorsey Wiard, Carl Williams, and Ray Gene Williams will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born on April 18, 1936, in Fairmount, Georgia, he was the son of the late Willie H. Williams and Odell Maloy Williams. Mr. Williams was retired from Conley Construction and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed camping, reading novels, and dancing with his wife. Paul also dedicated a significant part of his life to serving his country as a proud member of the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1969. His commitment and sacrifice for his nation will always be remembered with gratitude.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Kaye Ellen McLaughlin Williams; son, Steven Williams; siblings, David Williams and Verna Ree Eunice; great-granddaughter, Aimee Elkins; and great-great-grandson, Kaston Deson Williams.
Mr. Williams is survived by his daughter, Marla Lewis and husband Danny of Moultrie; grandchildren, Geri Kaye Huyett and fiancé Ashley of Florida, Tanja Becker of Canada, Michele Telaar of Germany, Nikki Hudnall and husband Micheal of Moultrie, Jennifer Huyett of Florida, and Shawn Conley and wife Courtney of Alabama; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Elkins, Gabi Yearwood and husband Jacob, Alexis Huyett, Myranda Spruck, Destin Hudnall, Sophia Holloway, Owen Conley, River Conley, Wyatt Gibson-Conley, Patrick Veidt, Lukas Becker, Maximilian Telaar, and Fabian Telaar; great-great-grandchildren, Mason Elkins, Autumnn Elkins, Rymesis Williams, Maddix Latham, and Hinata Yearwood; bonus granddaughter, Dara Schwartz of Florida; and siblings, Reba Giddens of Moultrie, Evie Purvis of Metter, and Jeanne Swords and husband Ronnie of Omega; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 6-8 pm in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
The family will gather at the home of Nikki and Michael Hudnall.
