Paul Frederick Ratzi, 91, of Banks Oregon, went to be with the lord on February 21, 2023 from a hemorrhagic stroke.
Paul was born March 29, 1931 to Frederick and Marjorie Ratzi in Cumberland Maryland. Growing up Paul lived in various places around the country but spent his most important younger years living in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Pittsburg University and found the love of his life. Over 71 years ago on April 21, 1952 he married Ann Binder and was father to Steve, Linda, Mike and Jeff.
Paul enlisted in the US Air Force and in their early years of marriage while stationed at Malmstrom AFB in Great Fall Montana their first child was born. Once out of the service, Paul purchased a brand new 1956 Chevrolet Belair and traveled west and purchased a brand-new home in Granda Hills California at 16506 Los Alamos St. It was here that both Linda and Mike were born. In 1967 Paul sold the house in Granda Hills and moved us to a much bigger house with a pool in Chatsworth. It was here that Paul pulled Steve Linda and Mike together and told us we were getting an addition to the family (Oh boy, we thought were getting a Dog) that is when our new baby brother Jeff was born. This completed the Ratzi family.
Paul's first job in California was working at Douglas Aircraft. In the Sixties, Paul worked at ITT managing the Human Resources department and later as Head of Human Resources at Teledyne. Subsequently, Paul spent the seventies and eighties working at other companies like Republic Van Lines, EMM and Ellsters and teaching college business classes at UCLA Northridge at night. He retired from Sierra College near Grass Valley in Northern California where he taught Small Business Management, which he developed and wrote the class text book.
Once retired, Paul continued to stay active traveling between the then spread-out family and his other two favorite hobbies, Golf and Poker in which he participated every chance he could. Paul and Ann's final home is in Banks Oregon where they live in a cozy one-bedroom apartment on Jeff's land. From that first child born in 1954 until the present Paul left quite a legacy as noted:
Four Children: Steve, Linda, Mike and Jeff
Eight Grand Children: Max, Bob, John-Paul, Jason, Jessy, Heather, Christina and Brandi.
Four Great Grand Children: Kyla, Shealynn, Peter and Charlie.
To sum up Paul's life is to know his family and who they have become.
