Celebrating the Life of Ann Ratzi

Born on November 24, 1930, to Samuel and Anna Binder in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ann's life was one of love, devotion, and quiet strength. On April 21, 1952, Ann married Paul Ratzi, beginning a marriage that would span over 70 years. Together, they raised four children: Steve, Linda, Mike, and Jeff. On August 7, 2025, Ann was reunited with Paul and went to be with the Lord.

While the dates and milestones of Ann's life are important, they only begin to scratch the surface of who she truly was. If we had to choose a few words to describe her, they would be: loving, uplifting, caring, and incredibly patient. If there's such a thing as a perfect mother, Ann embodied that ideal every day.

Her Early Years & Marriage

Ann grew up in Pittsburgh, surrounded by family and friends who shaped her into the woman she would become. It was during her late teens that she met the love of her life, Paul, in the spring of 1948. Their love story led them on an unexpected journey. Paul enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and after training they married. It was during their time at Great Falls Air Force Base (now Malmstrom AFB) in Montana they welcomed their first child, Steve, marking the beginning of their adventure as parents.

Building a Life Together

After Paul's service, the family returned to Pittsburgh, where Ann cared for her family while Paul completed his bachelor's degree. They then set out on a new chapter of their lives, purchasing a 1955 Chevy Bel-Air and headed west to settle in the first home in Granada Hills, California, where both Linda and Mike were born. In 1968, they moved to a larger home in Chatsworth, complete with a pool, where the family continued to grow. It was here that Jeff was born, completing the Ratzi family.

A Devoted Mother and More

Ann was a stay-at-home mom for most of her married life, her nurturing spirit and deep sense of devotion making her the heart of the family. As the children grew and left home, Ann returned to work part-time, putting to use the office skills she had learned working for the Pennsylvania Telephone Company before marriage.

Throughout the years, Ann's family was her world. She dedicated herself to making sure each of them felt seen, loved, and cherished.

Her Legacy

Ann leaves behind not just four children-Steve, Linda, Mike, and Jeff-but also eight grandchildren: Max, Bob, JohnPaul, Jason, Jessy, Heather, Kristina, and Brandi, along with three great-grandchildren: Peter, Charlie, and Paul. Each of us has been shaped by her kindness, strength, and her ability to make everyone around her feel valued.

Ann's legacy is one of love that never faded, patience that never ran out, and a faith that sustained her through all of life's challenges. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she gave us will live on forever.
