Paul Eugene Riffey, son of Elmer and Florence (Boots) Riffey, was born January 21, 1931 at home in Harris, Kansas. He left this journey of life on September 16, 2025 at the age of 94 years and 8 months. He had been at the Rawlins House in Pendleton since June 23rd and we thank them for their care.
He with his parents, moved to Indiana in December 1936. He was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church on April 13, 1947 to which he remained faithful until death.
On February 25, 1950, he was united in marriage with Ruth Bowman. This union was blessed with six sons and one daughter. On June 24, 1958, Ruth passed away from complications after childbirth. On April 16, 1959, he married Janet Miller from Arcanum, Ohio. They moved from Middletown, Indiana to the Pendleton area in the spring of 1960.
Surviving are his children and their spouses Melvin (Connie), Rachel (Bruce) Princell, James (Jennie), Mark (Karen), Jesse (Patricia), Nancy (Tom) Beery, Gerald (Nadine), Virginia (Doug) Brooks, and Darryl (Jennifer). The number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren is over 180. Also surviving is his sister, Bonnie and Richard Reavis, his brother, Harold and Bonnie Riffey, in laws, Lois Jean Mohler, Bob Flora, Melvin Filbrun, Marti Balsbaugh and Lawrence and Clara Crist. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Preceding Paul in death are his parents, his wife Ruth in 1958, his wife Janet in 2017, sons John and Samuel, his brother and sister in law, Charles and Evelyn Riffey, his sister in law, Martha Riffey and infant sister, Carolene, two great grandsons, Wyatt Brubaker and Joseph Garber.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, located at the intersection of 400 South and 600 West, Pendleton, Indiana. The home brethren will be officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, located at State Road 38 and 625 West, Pendleton.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025 at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church at the above address.
Memorial contributions available to the Rawlins House, 300 J.H. Walker Drive, Pendleton, IN 46064 with envelopes provided.
