Paul David Rush, 75, of Quakertown, passed away from a heart attack on January 8th, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest Hospital. Born in Quakertown, Paul was the son of the late Paul D. Rush and the late Margaret (Landes) Rush and stepson of Ruth (Alderfer) Rush. 

Paul grew up helping on the family farm while attending Quakertown Christian School and Christopher Dock Mennonite High School. After High School Paul entered 1W Service, working in a hospital in Vermont. After this experience, he furthered his education by attending Delaware County Community College, receiving his associate’s degree and attended Crozer-Chester Medical Center to study Respiratory Therapy. 

He began working at Allentown Osteopathic Hospital as the director of Respiratory Therapy and enjoyed it so much he remained there 25+ years. He also worked at Lansdale Hospital and as a retirement job, enjoyed delivering car parts part time.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Paul lived a humble, simple life and enjoyed serving others. Within the community, he served on the board for Quakertown Christian School and Rockhill Retirement Community and donated blood regularly. Throughout Paul’s life, he was very dedicated to the church, both locally and globally. His relationship with Christ was important to him and influenced how he lived his life. As a lifetime member of Salem Mennonite Church, he served on their board as well as a Sunday school teacher, youth sponsor, trustee, song leader and after retirement, mowed the yard. 

Paul was a loving husband, father and PopPop. He was supportive of his children, attending all their sporting and extra-curricular activities and encouraged them to pursue their life goals. He loved playing with his grandkids and attending their music and sports activities. His wise advice was appreciated by his family. He loved his family and deeply cherished the time spent with them. 

Paul enjoyed sports, especially following the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He was a PIAA basketball official and enjoyed attending high school football and basketball games. He enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music groups and attending their concerts. 

Paul was happiest when he spent quality time with family and friends. He enjoyed family reunions and when his immediate family got together. 

Paul will be dearly missed by his wife, Alice, together they shared 49 loving years of marriage; his children, David Rush (Julette) and Beth Deubert (Jeff); his grandchildren, Matthew Rush, Justin Deubert, Bethany Rush, Jocelyn Deubert and Kyle Rush; his siblings, Jim Rush (Beth), John Rush (Esther), Marc Rush (Debbie), and Phil Rush (Debbie); along with his extended family members and friends. Paul is predeceased by his parents, Paul Rush, Margaret Rush step-mom Ruth Rush, and sister-in-law, Gerry Rush.

All are invited to view Paul and greet the family on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, from 9:00 ~ 10:30 AM, located at Salem Mennonite Church, 41 E. Cherry Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. A funeral service will begin at 10:30AM, followed by a graveside service at Deep Run East Mennonite Cemetery, 350 Kellers Church Road, Perkasie, PA 18944. There will be a luncheon at the Franconia Heritage Restaurant at 1 PM, 508 Harleysville Pike, Telford PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul’s name to the American Heart Association or the Mennonite Central Committee
