Orange Park, FL – Paul D. Sharp, 82, passed peacefully on November 3, 2024, at Haven Hospice in Orange Park. He was born June 2, 1942, in Evening Shade, Arkansas, the son of John Junior and Alta Iona (Brightwell) Sharp.
Paul grew up and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, Class of 1960, in Kalamazoo, MI. Following High School, he worked locally in Kalamazoo and was married in 1962 to Joan Slavin. He was drafted and served proudly with the U.S. Army in the 31st Engineer Battalion Black Horse as the Assistant to Captain Lieutenant Friazz during the Vietnam War. He received The Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service while serving with the 20th Engineer Brigade in the Republic of Vietnam.
After the war, he returned home to his wife Joan. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on January 3rd, 2024. He immediately went to work where he began a long Residential Property Management career covering 44 years and the entire southeast United States. He always put his family first and started his career with Kasuba Properties, the largest apartment developer as a Regional Manager which led him to Florida. Later, he started the first of two companies – Sharp Shopper Services, providing evaluation of customer service and analysis to owners of multi-unit commercial and residential properties. Paul always found time to help others through coaching Little League Baseball, Senior Warden of the Episcopal Church, was a Big Brother mentoring special needs teenagers and even found time to teach Real Estate classes at Florida Community College at Jacksonville.
In 2008, he retired from Paul Sharp Realty Group, LLC, a full-service commercial and residential property management company, and in retirement continued his family-first mantra as a loving husband, hall-of-fame father, and a world-class grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Tom and Bob Sharp. Surviving in addition to his wife Joan (Slavin) Sharp, are his sons Kevin Sharp and his wife Cherie, his two grandchildren Sydney and Porter Sharp in Newport Beach, CA, Darin Sharp and his wife Kate in Jacksonville, FL, Ryan Sharp and his wife Charlotte in Charlotte, NC and numerous nieces and nephews with Grace Sharp and Paul "Guy" Sharp always nearby.
Service arrangements will be held later at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
