Paul Jerome Shavers, 50, of Aurora, IL passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma. Paul was born on March 30, 1974 in Wayne, Michigan, the son of Willie and Martha (O'Hara) Shavers. He graduated from West Aurora High School where he was involved in the basketball program. He later went on to serve his country with the United States Airforce and was always a proud veteran. For the past 12 years he was employed with TTEC as a manager. Paul was a devout Christian and member of Fox Valley Christian Church in Batavia. Throughout his life, Paul's unwavering faith was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew him. Despite his physical struggles, his spirit remained steadfast, always trusting in Gods plan and he never allowed his condition to affect his devotion to Christ. Paul loved all sports, especially basketball. He enjoyed coaching as well and is still called "Coach Paul" to this day. Paul will always be remembered for his servant's heart, his big smile, his devotion and love for his family and most importantly his Christ centered life. He is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth "Lisa" Shavers; children, Marissa Salinas, Cayla Darrow and Paul, Nicholas and Joshua Shavers; mother, Martha Shavers; siblings, Willie (Maria) Shavers, Thor Shavers, Jake Shavers and Elizabeth Shavers; mother-in-law, Ofelia Velazquez "Mama O", in-laws, Monica (Earl) Collins, Veronica (Lorenzo) Ramos, Luis A. (Maria) Velazquez, Vaness (Diego Rios) Velazquez and Alex Velazquez; longtime best friend, Mark (Karen) Walter and Drew Polk and Anthony Rice who were like adopted sons to him. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews as well as many in laws and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Willie Shavers; sister, Evelyn Shavers; uncle, Michael O'Hara; aunt Blanca Medina and father-in-law, Luis Velazquez. Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 3:00 PM until the time of service at 7:00 PM at Fox Valley Christian Church, 40w150 Main Street, Batavia, IL 60510. Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 9:30 AM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. The family would like to thank Northwestern Cancer Center, especially Dr. Buerki, Denise, Michelle and Eva for the wonderful care that was given to Paul throughout his illness. The exceptional care that Dr Daniel Armbrust gave to him is also greatly appreciated. Thank you also to Josh LaGrange and Bill Galloway from Fox Valley Christian Church for your continued prayers, guidance and support for all of us during this difficult time.
