Clarence Copeland Shavers

Clarence Copeland Shavers, 73, affectionately known as "Cope," was born April 15, 1952, in Griffin, Georgia, and passed peacefully at home on November 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mamie Shavers; his sister, Brenda White; and his brother, Harvey Shavers.
Cope was a proud member of the Griffin High Eagles, where he excelled on both the football and baseball fields.
He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 46 years, Alice Leonard Shavers; his daughters, Kipala Webb (Royce) and Brandy Reese (Ches) of Zebulon, Georgia; and his stepdaughter, Jennifer Moore. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Hayes, of Zebulon, Georgia.
Cope's pride and joy were his grandchildren - Leah Dutton (Cody), Caleb Webb, PFC Chesny Reese, Aubree Reese, Braylee Reese, Sterling Moore, and Kendall Moore - and his great-grandchildren, Pyper and Paxton Dutton.
Christ Chapel of Zebulon, Georgia, was his place of worship.
Cope was known worldwide for his breeding, training, and promotion of Country Rock Filas. He was also a skilled sawyer and talented wood craftsman.
Cope was a larger-than-life character and legend, with a huge heart, a sharp sense of humor, and wise words for everyone he met. His cowboy spirit, love of teaching - not only about dogs and horses but about life itself - is the lasting legacy he leaves behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Christ Chapel in Zebulon, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Life Link of Georgia, the transplant organization that honors and supports organ donors and their families, at 2875 Northwoods Parkway, Norcross, GA 30071.
His laughter, his wisdom, and his love will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him.
The cowboy has ridden home.
