Paul Sholders Obituary
Paul Phillip Sholders, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2023. He was born on August 25, 1939, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to the late John and Lucille (Scamihorn) Sholders.
Paul graduated from Muncie Central High School, class of 1957. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from National Library where he was an electronic technician for many years. Paul loved sports and knew all the statistics which he loved discussing with his brother, Marty, weekly. He was good at Jeopardy, loved to read and was a true people person. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he faithfully served in various callings.
Paul was a kind man and always polite; never one to argue with women, his response was typically "what was I thinking." He was intelligent (avid reader), well versed and always willing to help; he had a true servant's heart and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Tamara (Lipovka) Sholders; daughter, Amy Sholders Hasselburg; brother, Dr. Joseph "Marty" (Chris) Sholders; daughter-in-law, Dawn Haapala Sholders; and granddaughters, Jennifer Brewer Nissley, Stephanie Brewer Hoover, Angela Sholders, Emily Sholders and Zara Hurst; great-granddaughters, Robin Brimberry and Christiana Remmy; and great-great-grandson, Josiah Joseph Brimberry. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Alice (Perkins) Sholders; and son, Bryan Sholders.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, December 30 from 11 to 1 p.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 900 E. Stop 11 Rd., Indianapolis, where the funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial: Concordia Cemetery, Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions in Paul's memory have been suggested to The Church of Latter-Day Saints, 900 E. Stop 11 Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46227. Envelopes will be provided at the church.
