Paul Edward Wanda
Glen Carbon - Paul Edward Wanda, age 73 of Glen Carbon, IL, born October 18, 1951, in Chicago, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Eden Village Care Center.
Paul was a retired professor of biological sciences at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He received his PhD in Biophysics from Penn State University and BA in Physics from Knox College. He was an avid fisherman, chess player, St. Louis Blues fan, and artist. Paul was a devoted, loving family man as well as a passionate educator and mentor to countless students and scientists.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Barbara (nee Buchko) Wanda.
Surviving is his wife, Soo Young (nee Choo) Wanda, whom he married August 19, 1979; a son, Paul Andrew (Nora Herweg) Wanda of Cologne, Germany; a daughter, Lillian Elise (Helder) Pais of Columbia, SC; one granddaughter, Maya Luisa Wanda; and one brother, Nicholas (Jane) Wanda of WI.
A Memorial Celebration will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
