THAWVILLE - Paula Marie Boomgarden, 74, of Thawville, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at her home.

She was born on May 18, 1949, in Kankakee a daughter of Paul and Teresa (Caron) Burrington. Paula married John A. Boomgarden in Bourbonnais on November 12, 1966, and he survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Julie Ann Hahn of Bloomington; one son, David Alan Boomgarden (Adrian) of Gridley; one sister, Karla J. Gadbois of Kankakee; seven grandchildren: Lauren and Lindsey Boomgarden, Jared (Madison) Hahn, Jenna Hahn, Seth and Chase Lane, and Noah Boomgarden; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Donald Burrington.

Paula went to high school in Bradley and graduated from Heyworth High School. Paula graduated from Kankakee Community College in 1978 as an LPN, and worked at Fairbury Hospital, Dr. Chen's office in Chatsworth, and Greenbrier Nursing Home with later became Piper City Healthcare. Later she was a clerk in the United States Post Office in local communities for 15 years. Paula was a member of Catholic Church, enjoyed making afghans, and volunteered for the American Red Cross.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Knapp Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Marek Herbut officiating. Burial will follow in Brenton Twp Cemetery in Piper City.
