Paula Renee Carnes, 73, died Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born March 8, 1952, in Hutchinson, to Gene Richard and Velma Lucille (Achilles) Field.
Paula graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1970 and shortly after, attended Hutchinson Community College. She worked at Far-Mar-Co, as a secretary, where she met many of her friends, and from 1984 to 1997, as an accounts payable clerk for APAC Shears Construction, Hutchinson.
Paula was an active member at CrossPoint Church in Hutchinson. She loved her role as a secretary and caring for the children at the church nursery. Paula's generosity and big heart inspired her to donate to local and foreign missionary work to help others.
In her spare time, Paula enjoyed painting and playing with her kittens. In addition, she enjoyed taking bus and train tours in Colorado with her husband and attending the balloon fest in New Mexico.
On June 14, 1990, she married Jerry Lee Carnes Sr., in Hutchinson, KS. They shared over 34 years of marriage. He survives.
Other survivors include: brothers, Terry (Debbie) Field and Russell Field; sister, Stacy (Bob) Lee; step-children, Jerry (Gina) Carnes Jr., and Shane (Teresa) Carnes, step-sister, Yvette (Steve) Korb; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Helen Field.
Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2025, at CrossPoint Church, 1410 E. 30th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Andy Addis officiating. Friends may sign her memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to CrossPoint Church or American Diabetes Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
