Paula Beth Durham, 54, of Hanahan, SC, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
Born on November 9, 1970, in Canada. She was raised in Port Huron, Michigan. Paula was the daughter of Marilyn Dunn Vander Esch and Lee Vander Esch.
Paula had worked as a paramedic for more than 20 years. Working in Michigan and then relocating to South Carolina. She had a passion for her job and to ensure her patients received the best care. She earned many friends and memories throughout her years in the field. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach and spending time with her grandchildren.
Paula is survived by her husband, James Durham, daughter, Shelby Tumbleston, her parents Lee Vander Esch and Marilyn Vander Esch, sister, Sharon DeFrain, brother, Loren Vander Esch and 4 granddaughters and 2 grandsons.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley.
The funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Charleston Area Animal Rescue.
