Paula Acker Malcom

Funeral service for Paula Acker Malcom, 78, of Oxford will be Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Delaney Holloway officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Malcom passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 at RMC in Anniston. Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Malcom Martin (Stacey); son, Colin Arrington Malcom all of Oxford; four grandchildren, Cole Martin (Marisol), Corey Martin (Morgan), Kelsey Martin Miller (Dylan) and Ashlin Malcom; three great-grandchildren, Ella Miller, Jack Miller and Alice Perez; brother, Ted Acker (Pam) of Spring Garden and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Stacey Martin, Corey Martin, Cole Martin, Dylan Miller, Sawyer Yakely and Matthew Yakely. Honorary pallbearers will be her visitation friends at the Oxford First United Methodist Church and her teaching buddies at Hill Elementary School in Munford. Mrs. Malcom was a long-time resident of Oxford and a graduate of Spring Garden High School. She earned her Masters and EdD degree at Jacksonville State University in Elementary Education. She started her career as a teacher in Trion, Georgia and taught third grade for 28 years at Hill Elementary School in Munford. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed having her family over for meals. She enjoyed reading, watching police drama shows and was active with the Visitation Group at the Oxford First United Methodist Church, which visits the sick and shut-ins. She loved to travel with her family and her favorite place was Disney. Mrs. Malcom was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Malcom, and parents, Bill and Lillian Acker. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to the Oxford First United Methodist Church, 214 Snow Street, Oxford, AL 36203.
