Paula Schade

Paula Montgomery Schade, 77, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, in Tucson, after a difficult struggle with Glioblastoma.
Paula was born on January 3, 1947, in Davis, Oklahoma, to Clifford and Pauline Montgomery, joining her sister Barbara Montgomery. The family later moved to Morenci, where Paula attended Morenci High School, followed by the University of Arizona, where she received her BS and MA Degrees in Speech Pathology. Paula married her high-school sweetheart, Karl William Schade, in 1967, and they remained married 49 years until Karl passed away in 2017. Paula was a long-time resident of Safford, and more recently, Alpine and Tucson.
Paula will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind: including two sons, Karl (Darina), of Austin, Texas and David (Deann), of Safford; and her daughter, Allison Lamb (Justin Lamb), of Sierra Vista. Paula, or "Grammie" as she was known to her grandkids, also leaves behind nine grandchildren - Eden, Chase, Jessica, Jake, Schade, Hannah, Nate, Karl Henry and Madison.
A Celebration of Paula's Life will be conducted Saturday afternoon, August 31, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Safford. A reception will follow at The Venue on Main, 430 West Main Street in Safford, at 3:00 p.m.
The family suggests donations in Paula's honor be made to the American Brain Tumor Association.
