Deja atrás a sus siete hijos: Aldina Mazariegos, Gloria Mazariegos, Consuelo De León, Pedro Mazariegos, Santos Monterroso, Marta Barillas y Aura Buendía.

Tribute to the life of my mother, Paula Vivar

My mother, Paula Vivar, was the daughter of Ubenceslao Martinez and Secundina Vivar. Born in Santa Catarina Mita, Jutiapa, she was the second of four sisters. At the age of 15, she lost her parents, leaving her to care for her two younger sisters. At the age of 20, she married my father, Pedro Mazariegos, with whom she had three sons and six daughters.

Life presented her with great challenges: she was widowed at 42, and a year later, she lost her third son, José Luis Mazariegos. The loss of José Luis devastated her deeply, and in her own words, it was one of the greatest pains she ever endured.

For this reason, I have always said that my mother was an extraordinary woman-fighter, warrior, and brave. Despite her difficulties and suffering, she lovingly assumed the roles of both mother and father to her children. Thanks to her resilience and strength, my mother continued to fight until her last moments, living to the remarkable age of 105.

She leaves behind her seven children: Aldina Mazariegos, Gloria Mazariegos, Consuelo De León, Pedro Mazariegos, Santos Monterroso, Marta Barillas and Aura Buendía. Herlegacy lives on not only in her children, but also in her 40 grandchildren , 77 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Her life is a shining example of strength, love, and perseverance. A mother is the most important person in the life of every human being-regardless of age. From childhood, she makes us feel protected from danger, and as adults, she always offers the right advice, born from her eternal wisdom and life experience. Unfortunately, mothers are not eternal, and like all living beings, they have a beginning and an end.

Mother of my heart, I became so accustomed to being by your side, but you also taught me to be strong and to face life's difficult moments. You will always live in my heart, and your reign will continue until the last beat of my own.

Rest in peace, dear mother. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
