Paula Marie Zabielski, age 82, a lifelong resident of Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, in
McHenry, IL. She was born on February 21, 1942, in Chicago, IL, to the late Ralph and Anne Rio. Paula's life was a testament to kindness, love, and that she embodied and shared with those around her.
A kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Paula's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Ken (Judy) and Dawn Ehrke. Paula's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Ashley Riley (William), Alex, and Ajay Ehrke, as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Noah, Elly, and Freya. Each of them was a source of immense happiness for her, and shared great pride in their well-being and happiness.
Paula's interests were a reflection of her multifaceted personality. She enjoyed joining her yearly church crafting groups, which served as a medium through which she expressed her love and thoughtfulness. Her handmade gifts were treasures that held a special place in the hearts of their recipients. In her younger years Paula also enjoyed bowling as a pastime.
Her faith was an integral part of her life and found solace and community within her church. Paula joined church groups and functions, where she contributed her time, talents, and support. Her strong-willed nature meant that she approached every task with determination, and her quiet presence was a source of comfort and strength to those who knew her.
Paula was a loving individual with a quiet demeanor with a kind-hearted spirit. She approached life's challenges with grace and resilience and made her the strong and patient woman she was. Her kindness was not just an attribute but a way of life, influencing every interaction and leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Those who knew Paula would describe her as a loyal, kind and patient woman. She showered her love, not just in her words but in the way she quietly lived her life. Her legacy is in the love, she gave and the lives she touched.
Paula Marie Zabielski will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she enriched with her kindness, patience, and love. As we say farewell to this remarkably stoic woman, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit remains with us, guiding us with the same love and kindness she shared during her time with us on earth.
There will be a graveside service for family and friends on Monday, August 12 at 11:00 am at Windridge Memorial Park and Nature Sanctuary, 7014 S Rawson Bridge Rd, Cary, IL 60013. There will be a luncheon immediately following. Details will be passed on at the service.
