Pauline Guy Obituary

Published by Billings Gazette on Aug. 28, 2007.
On Saturday, Aug. 24, 2007, our beloved Pennie passed from this earth. She outwitted pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer longer than any one could be expected to and went peacefully off to Heaven.
Pennie was born on July 19, 1935, to Herschel and Glenna (Bowen) Mann. She attended grade school in Linville, Ohio, and high school in Scottown, Ohio.
On Oct. 3, 1953, she married her little sailor, Al Guy. She worked at the General Cigar Company in Huntington, W.Va., for one year while Al finished his time in the Navy. In December 1954, after Al was discharged, they headed west to Montana.
Pennie worked at Midland Implement from 1956 to 1964 when she took time out to be a full time wife and mother for 19 years. It was during this time that she was a mom not only to her own kids, but their friends and several family members as well. If you look up the word love in the dictionary, you are sure to find her name listed in one of the definitions. She went back to Midland Implement in 1983 and worked for 15 years, retiring in 1998.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Allen, his wife Jo, and Mark Owen and his wife Lisa. She had six grandchildren, Mark, Michaela "Kayla," Cobey, Jake, Keith and Kyle. She is also survived by her mother, Glenna Mann; and three sisters, Vivian Sowards, Elsie Dempsey and Charolette Walters, all of Scottown. Pennie is also leaving her special daughter, Terri Riemann and her husband Steve; her "little" sister, Andrea; niece Diane; good friends Jim and Helen Fergus; and too many nieces and nephews to list.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Al Guy; her father, Herschel; and her sister, Mildred Mann.
The Lord saw that Pennie was hurting so, and this time she would not get better. So He finally told her loving Al to quickly come and get her. We knew she couldn't stay with us, so we loved her while we could. You've earned your wings and halo, now we promise to be good. We love you, Momma, and don't worry anymore, we'll take it from here. The Family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Kahn for everything he did. God Bless you, sir. Thanks also to Rocky Mountain Hospice.
A vigil will be held on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m., at Holy Rosary Church. The funeral mass will be held Friday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m., also at Holy Rosary Church, and her burial will be beside her love at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary has charge of arrangements. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.michelottisawyers.com.

I can't even begin to say how much my heart is breaking for you all right now. Pennie was a wonderful lady and I was so lucky to get to know her. It is evident that she was a great mother - you can tell by the great family that she raised. Mike and Mark, you both have her compassion and love of life. I hope that you can take comfort knowing that she is finally with Al again. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Love,
Pete, Jaime and Carter

We so enjoyed living across the alley from Pennie and Al. What a treat to be invited in for a piece for her lucious homemade pie. Hope you have her pie crust recipe, Mark.
She was such a friendly and happy person. We are so glad we got to see her this trip back to Billings.
God Bless.

To my father, Michael, my Uncle Mark, and my Aunt Terry,
Grandma Pennie was the kindest person I knew. She taught me how to cook, how to be a lady, and how to deal with the problems I face. I love her so much and I will always remember her and Grandpa. I envy you three for having much more time to spend with her than I did.
I believe that if she was that good of a grandmother to me, my siblings, my cousins, and even my friends, then she must have been one heck of a mother to you guys.

With love and pride,
Michaela

Michael, the loss of your sweet mother saddens me deeply. She was warm and kind, and opened her heart and home to me when I had no place left to go. You and Mark are like brothers to me, and I am sorry that I can not be closer to you in this time. You and your families have my love and prayers.
Be well my friends and may God bless you.

Mark, Mike, and family
I am sorry for your loss; Pennie was a beautiful and wise lady, I so enjoyed meeting her and visiting with her from time to time. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren.

As difficult as it was, You made her last days as pleasant as possible; I know she was grateful and loved you for all that you did for her.

Please accept my deepest sympathy, and know my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Dear Mike and Mark,

I know your mother gave you enough
laughter to last you the rest of your lives. So keep all the good memories in your hearts and she will be with you forever. Pass her strengths on to your children and the circle will be complete and everlasting.

Our hearfelt condolences to the entire Guy family. I have known Penny since I was in high school, but have had little contact with her in 20 years. I saw her in October and she was still the kindest, most gracious woman. I was very lucky to know her and lucky that she enbraced my sister when she married into her family.
Mike, you are a wonderful example of the kindness that was your mother. My deepest sympathies for your loss. I will always be there for you.
Penny, be at peace. You are together with Al.
All our love,
The Madsen's
