Pauline Robitaille Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 24, 2014.
SOUTH HADLEY - Pauline (Rodrigue) Robitaille, 84, died peacefully on April 24th at Loomis House surrounded by her children. She resided at Loomis for the past six years. She lived many years in South Hadley where she raised her family and then lived at Dover Brook in Chicopee. Pauline graduated from Holyoke High School in the class of 1947 and married Francis J. Robitaille in 1949. Together they raised five children. She leaves two sons Francis (Linda) of South Hadley, and Marc (Nancy) of Rutland, MA.; and three daughters Michele Robitaille (Tom Caldwell) of Yarmouth, ME., Mona Movafaghi (Shahriar) of Hollis, NH., and Joanne Scannell (Jim) of Natick, MA. She is survived by three sisters, Rita Desjardins of Granby, Claire Lynch of South Hadley and Doris Holve of West Springfield; and one brother Richard Rodrigue of Sanford, NH. She will be sorely missed by her fifteen grandchildren, Kristin LeClair (Rich), Sam Caldwell, Zachary Caldwell, Andrea Robitaille, David Robitaille, Alissa Gottardi (Henry), Matthew Movafaghi (Lauren), Stephen Movafaghi, Olivia Movafaghi, Andrew Robitaille, Nicole Robitaille, Lucas Robitaille, Kevin Scannell, Caitlin Scannell, Jeffrey Scannell; and three great grandchildren Caroline LeClair, Amelia LeClair and Gabriel Robitaille. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Pauline was a family oriented person who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as her brothers and sisters. She played rollicking games of Chicopee pitch with her grandchildren, and taught them to win or lose with a smile. She was the go-to person when anyone needed help with childcare or holiday cooking. Pauline loved to travel and visited Italy, Turkey, France, Scotland, Mexico and many other places. She liked to draw and paint, and was a skilled knitter and enjoyed crocheting. She was a kind soul who quietly helped others without requiring notice for her loving deeds. Calling hours for Pauline will be held on Thursday evening from 4-7PM at the Ryder Funeral Home in South Hadley. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning at 9AM also at the Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10AM at St. Patrick's Church, also located in South Hadley. Her burial will be held at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Pauline's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN., 38105. RYDER FUNERAL HOME 533-1735
