Polly Rogers Whaley Woodward of Petros departed this life on August 17, 2012. Mrs. Woodward was born in Petros to Margaret Emma and William P. Rogers. She is one of six children, Velma, John, Elbert, Glenn and Hugh. Elbert is her only surviving sibling. She was also preceded in death by Milton Whaley who was killed in World War II and Eugene Woodward, Bill Murray, who was her long- time companion is also deceased. Polly is survived by brother: Elbert and wife Patsy of Athens TN She was also a loving Aunt to: Tom and Irma Allison of Mills River, NC, Glenn Rogers of New Market, TN, Ronald Jackson of Oak Ridge,TN, Jeanne and Grady Williams of Athens,TN, Donna and Henry Barton of Greenville, PA, Hannah and John Cole of Lowell, NC, Bill Rogers of Hohenwald,TN, Kay Rogers of Toledo,OH, Jim and Mary Doug Rogers of Bethel Springs,TN, Wanda Fincher of Covington,GA, Joe and Vicki Singleton, San Antonio,TX, Chris and Margaret Emma Bash of Nashville, TN and many great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are several very special cousins. Special thanks to Carolyn Langley and Linda Griffith for their wonderful care. She was a member of Petros Methodist Church and attended Union Baptist Church and Petros Baptist Church. She retired from the Petros post office after 30 years and enjoyed knowing her customers as part of her extended family. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 1:00PM until 2:00PM A celebration of her life will follow at 2p.m with Dr. Jim West and Rev. John Justice officiating. Interment will be in the Wartburg City Cemetery. The family would like to request that donations be made either to Petros Baptist, Petros Methodist or Union Baptist Church in Polly's name .
