Pearl M. Kreischer age 92 of Grovertown, IN and formerly of Portage, IN passed away on August 24, 2024 at Miller's Merry Manor in Culver, IN. She was born in Michigan City, IN to the late Samuel Hurley and Clara (Sobecki) Hurley Zdyb.
On November 22, 1952 she married the love of her life Edmond Charles (Chuck) Kreischer who said on their first date that he would marry her one day. Shortly after he returned from Korea, they were married.
She graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City where she made many life-long friends who continued to regularly meet for lunch well into their 80s.
Pearl's biggest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was a hands-on grandma making many lasting memories with her grandchildren: decorating Christmas cookies, raking and playing in leaves and hours of board and card games
Pearl is survived by her daughters, Susan (Matthew) Savage of Grosse Pointe, MI and Julie (Ralph) Dowd of Grovertown; son, John (Trina) Kreischer of Plymouth; grandchildren, Keith Kreischer, Kelly Kreischer, Brandon (Jessica) Dowd, Phillip (Autumn) Kreischer, Jacob Dowd, Christopher (Riley) Kreischer, Erin (Ian) Gross and Eric Kreischer; great grandchildren, Aden Dowd, Kaelin Kreischer, Carmindy Dowd, Brienne Dowd, Charles Kreischer, Evelyn Kreischer, Jack Gross, Miles Gross, Thomas Kreischer and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck; son, Michael Kreischer; her parents and step father, John Zdyb; and sister, Delores (Ruby) Degnan.
Pearl was a member of the Saint Dominic Catholic Church in Koontz Lake, IN and was a member of the Lady's Auxiliary.
There will be a viewing at Rannells Funeral Home Koontz Lake from Noon to 2:00 EDT with a funeral service held at 2:00 EDT. She will be laid to rest at Grovertown Cemetery following the funeral service.
