JONESBORO - Pearl Marie Coker Roden, 93, passed away at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice house in Jonesboro, after a short illness Friday, Oct. 10, 2025. Pearl was born June 7, 1932, in Trumann, to William Louie and Aline "Elliott" Coker. She lived her entire life in the rural farmland of Trumann. She graduated in 1950 from McCormick High School and attended Arkansas State College in Jonesboro. She retired from Trumann Public School after 21 years with the migrant program. Many people remember her working alongside her husband, raising cattle, driving a tractor, and hauling crops to the gin. She loved being outdoors, camping, and water skiing at Lake Norfork. For many years, she was active in the First General Baptist Church, serving as secretary/treasurer, youth church, and Sunday School teacher for preschool. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club of Poinsett County and served as a sponsor for the youth 4-H club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, James William "Dub" Roden. Her brother Floyd Coker of Memphis, and Ruth "Coker" Lee of Maryland. She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Carey) Winters of The Villages, Fla.; grandson Patrick (Elise Penny) Doty of Bothell, Wash., April (Andrew) Roach of Jonesboro; and great-grandson Samuel Roach. Step grandchildren Veronica Winters of Redmond, Wash., and Connor (Jenny) Winters of Kirkland, Wash. Pallbearers will be Andrew Roach, Lee Ballard, Mike Clem, Jason Garrett, Steve Garrett, and Kevin Watkins. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. A celebration of life will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Reverend Darrel Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesboro.
