Pearline (Rogers) Greene, affectionately known as "Ma", "MaMa", and "Mother Pearl" entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Pearline was a resident of Hartford and a retiree of United Technologies. She was actively involved in church, community, and civic organizations. She was a member of Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church where she served as President of the Deaconess Board, treasurer of the Usher Board, Assistant Class Leader, and a member of the Courtesy Club. She was a member of Trellis Temple #663 I.B.P.O.E of W. where she served as treasurer for countless years and was also a member of the Antler Guard. She received her Past Grand Daughter Ruler honors as well as Past State President honors. Pearl was a strong advocate for voters' education and civil rights. She served for over a decade on the Hartford Democratic Town Committee and has walked many miles canvassing and knocking on numerous doors encouraging people to exercise their right to vote and staying in contact with her many constituents. She was also a member of the Progressive Democratic Women's Club, the NAACP and the Pliny Street Block Association. She also served as a certified buddy with the Connecticut Association of Foster and Adoptive Parents where she counseled other foster parents, providing her wisdom, knowledge and advice in caring for children. She was the recipient of the William Graham Community Service Award, the Clay Arsenal Community Award, and the Foster Parent Appreciation Award. Pearline was the daughter of the late Owen and Worrine (Hite) Rogers, Sr., and is survived by her loving daughters Markita Greene, Pamela (Eric) Coleman, and Yolanda Greene. She was predeceased by a daughter, Narvis Greene. She is also survived by her grandchildren, the love's of her life, Trevonn (Jennifer) Coleman, LaMar Coleman, Ayana (Steven) Taylor, Diarra Greene, Kyle Greene, Erica (Steede) Coleman-Chinan, and Tanisha Greene. Her great grandchildren, Jalen Chinan, Chloe and Steven Taylor Jr., Isaiah and Elias Coleman, and Aidan Greene. Her siblings Willie B. Clayborne, St. Louis, IL, Erma (David) Cannon, Leland, MS, Hermean Allen, Hartford, CT, Lucile Pernell, Orlando, FL, Eunice (Carl) Henderson, Bloomfield, CT, and Recillia (Bob) Gray, Bloomfield, CT. She was predeceased by Sisters Corrine Wallace and Emma Walker and two brothers Owen Rogers, Jr. and O.D. Rogers. She also leaves to cherish her memory, god daughters Valerie Dowdy Gaines and Tanya Brown, as well as numerous foster children that she raised. She also leaves a host of other relatives and dear friends. Pearl was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, godmother, foster mother, sister, aunt, cousin and a friend to many. She was the matriarch of her family, a confidante, an advisor and a caretaker. She is and has always been the wind beneath so many people's wings both young and old, family members, friends and colleagues. She had a heart of gold and is indeed a precious jewel (Pearl).

To my dear foster mom I will always love and cherish you , You taught me so much you have molded me to the woman I am today I will never forget you 20 years later and I remember every thing you have done for me and Dwight I'm so hurt because the last time we talked I was pregnant a few years back I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to see you I love you sooo much.
