Pedro “Pete” Barraza was born on February 24, 1952. Surrounded by his loving family, he went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2025.
Pete was a devoted and loving husband to Carol Barraza, with whom he shared 49½ years of marriage. Their life together was built on love, laughter, and deep commitment. He especially cherished their trips to Las Vegas, moments that brought him joy and created treasured memories.
He was a proud and dedicated father to his daughters, Vanessa Hunt and her husband Paul Hunt, and Cara Ruiz. Nothing meant more to him than his role as Grandpa “Me-pa” to his grandchildren, Maiden, Rhylee, Rome, Sammy, and Laurel. They were the light of his life, and he found his greatest happiness in time spent with them.
Pete dedicated over 20 years of service to the Bakersfield City School District, where he worked in the warehouse. He took pride in his work and genuinely loved what he did, valuing the friendships and sense of purpose it gave him.
He was a devoted son to his mother, Lupe Barraza, and a loving brother to his sister, Martha Jackson, and her husband, Randy. Pete was also a wonderful uncle, kind, dependable, and always present for his family. He was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him.
Pete was preceded in death by his father, Fausto Barraza, who is now welcoming his son home with loving arms. He was also preceded in death by his great-nephew, Alex Jackson. His family finds great comfort in imagining Pete reunited with Alex, sharing donuts together once again.
Pete will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his loyalty, his quiet strength, and the lasting legacy of kindness he leaves behind. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
