Pedro Castillo passed away on July 1, 2025, in Royse City, Texas, at the age of 72. He was born on January 17, 1953, in Taquito de Banda, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
Pedro was the son of Pedro Castillo Torres and Juana Castillo Nieto. One of eleven siblings, he grew up surrounded by a large, close-knit family. He remained proud of his roots throughout his life and carried that sense of connection and responsibility with him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Mercedes De Leon, and his sister, Teresa Ramirez. For the last ten years of his life, Pedro shared a strong and committed relationship with his partner, Maria Moreno. Their bond was marked by mutual respect, companionship, and support.
Pedro was a father to two children, his son Pedro Edgar Castillo and daughter Ortencia Borjas. He was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Cristofer, Carolina, Natalie, Pedro Edgar Jr., Kaylee, and Rylan. His family was a constant source of pride and fulfillment for him, and he took great joy in being involved in their lives.
Pedro had a long and hardworking career. He held jobs at Micro and Extruders, spent time in the construction industry, and later joined the maintenance department at Rockwall ISD, where he worked until his retirement in 2021. No matter the role, Pedro was known for being dependable and thorough in his work.
After retirement, he focused his time on things he genuinely enjoyed. He loved being outdoors and working on his property. Whether it was improving the yard, tending to his chickens, or maintaining his land, Pedro always kept busy. He enjoyed the sense of purpose it gave him and took pride in everything he built and cared for.
Pedro's connection to his upbringing in Mexico remained strong throughout his life. He made regular visits back to his hometown, reconnecting with old friends and family and embracing the rural lifestyle that shaped who he was. One of his proudest personal accomplishments was planting a cornfield on his own property-a nod to his farming roots and a reflection of his love for the land.
He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Whether it was a casual get-together or a big family gathering, Pedro valued the time spent with his loved ones. He didn't need much to be happy-just good company, good conversation, and a place to belong.
Pedro Castillo will be remembered as a hardworking man who stayed true to his roots, loved his family, and found joy in the simple things in life. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, quiet strength, and the lasting impact of a life well-lived.
