Kyle, Texas at the age of 67. Born on June 26, 1957, in Hays County, Texas, to the late Jose and Guadalupe Tapia, Peter's zest for life and commitment to his family and profession left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
He was a graduate of Jack C Hays High School, class of 1975. He earned various metals and a distinguished spot in Who's Who among students, as well as consistent recognition on the honor roll.
Peter's quest for knowledge and his passion for helping others led him to the College of Santa Fe, where he graduated with honors in 1979, with a degree in Theology and Liberal Arts. He furthered his education at the University of Texas School of Nursing, where he graduated with a degree in nursing.
Peter started his career at Humana Hospital in San Antonio and continued at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, as an RN and an ICU nurse. He became a critical care nurse before assuming the roles of nursing supervisor and eventually nursing administrator. His dedication and skill were particularly evident as a member of the transplant team.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Peter was a man of many interests. He had an insatiable love for travel, making yearly trips to Houston with his friends. His favorite destinations included the vibrant cities of New Orleans, San Francisco and Chicago. A sports enthusiast, Peter enjoyed playing volleyball with his friends for many years. He was known for his infectious smile and great sense of humor. His ability to socialize and enjoy life's pleasures, such as dining at fine restaurants, was matched only by his giving and caring nature.
He shared a loving and close relationship with his family, but he held a special bond with his mother, Guadalupe. He especially enjoyed his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his brother Joe Tapia and wife Christina; sister Martha Camacho and husband Jose; sisters: Angie Moreno; Lupe Tapia and his brother Jesse Tapia; his adored nieces and nephews Crystal King, Steven Tapia, Joey Camacho, and Veronica Knight. His journey on earth may have ended, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
