Peggie (Peg) Ann Bivens, 85, of Bullard, passed away on February 27, 2024, with her loved ones by her side. She was born on March 27, 1938, in Jacksonville, TX.
Peg is survived by her sister, Carolyn Elkanza Smith of Tyler; her three children, Deborah Ann Lazarek and husband of Bullard, Michael Ray Bivens and wife Mary of Jacksonville, and Nancy Gay Bivens of Tyler. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Carroll and Frankie Mae Meador, her son Bob Clayton Bivens, four brothers and three sisters.
Peg worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, currently known as AT&T, from where she retired in 1991. She worked her way up from being a 411 operator to a supervisory management position. Known for her contagious zest for life, Peg was always willing to help those in need. She was an avid sports enthusiast, played golf, and was part of several traveling bowling leagues. she enjoyed watching and attending sporting events, was an excellent card player, and loved playing poker, bingo, and many other games. She also loved her coffee, reading mystery books, and personal shopping for her granddaughter. Her delicious chocolate pie recipe will live on.
Peg was a multi-talented person with a wonderfully sassy personality. She had a heart of a protector and loved her family and friends above all else. Her absence will be deeply felt by all those who loved her.
A celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in remembrance of Peg Bivens to Heart to Heart Hospice 7925 S. Broadway Ave., Suite 1140, Tyler, TX 75703.
