Peggy Mae Jackson Owens Mullins (Baggett), age 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday October 21, 2025. She was born January 3, 1936 in Edgecombe County to Rufus and Evelyn Jackson and was the oldest of five children.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 24, 2025, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Carlisle Funeral Home.
As a little girl she helped work on the family farm and her first job was at McCrory dime store in Tarboro. She also worked at Running Mede Mills pairing socks where she met a friend that introduced her to making homemade Christmas candy. For the majority of her life, she managed many convenience stores as a full-time job as well as maintaining part time jobs throughout her life. Being the social butterfly that she was, she also was known for selling Tupperware, Mary Kay Cosmetics, and Avon.
In her time off work, Peggy would spend time with her family which she adored more than anything, cooking or baking her famous foods, shopping every sales rack at Belk, attending many gospel singings, or taking a trip somewhere.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Rufus and Evelyn Jackson, husbands Herman Lee Owens, Willie Mullins, and Tommy Baggett, brother James "Butch" Jackson, sister Christine Jackson Rose, and sons Kenny and Gary Owens.
Peggy leaves behind to cherish her memories: son Lee Owens (Gladys), daughter Brenda Tucker (Finis), sister Connie Forbes, brother Wayne Jackson (Irene), Grandchildren: Jennifer Hill, Kendra Walston, Tiffany and Thomas Owens, Jessica Allen, Peggy Andrews, Patricia Owens, Jon Bollinger and Christian Owens, along with Twenty-One great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She will also be missed by many special nieces and nephews, extended family and friends that she loved dearly, and her best furbaby and companion Toby.
Special Thanks for Gentiva staff and nurses.
