Peggy JoAnn Carlock (George), a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, at Chapel View Health Care Center in Hopkins, MN. She bravely survived a stroke, battled the effects of dementia, and was recently diagnosed with breast cancer in August of 2025. Even in her final days, Peggy radiated kindness, grace, and compassion. She had a remarkable appreciation for life and an unwavering love for her family and friends, often expressing gratitude for her long life filled with rich and varied experiences.

Born on May 24, 1935, in Cleveland, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late James Neal Sr. and Royzetta George. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Cecil Harding, James Neal George Jr., Kenneth George, Grace Jarrett, Paul George, and Jerry Sue Dabney. Although they left this world too soon, their enduring spirits and joyful memories continue to live on through Peggy’s family and friends.

She is survived by her devoted son, Bobbie (Teri) Evans Jr. of Minneapolis, Minnesota, who brought her much pride and joy. Additionally, she leaves behind two wonderful bonus daughters, Ann Cox of Cleveland, TN, and Valerie (Eric) Buchanan of Georgetown, TN, who enriched her life deeply and shared in her laughter and love.

Peggy's legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Chris (LaShondra) Evans of Houston, TX; Corey Evans of Nashville, TN; Corbin and Allison Evans of Chattanooga, TN; Shaun (Ana) Evans of Rosemount, MN; and Roz (Maia) Evans of Minneapolis, MN. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Christin Brent (Mark) of North Carolina; Brooklyn Evans of Murfreesboro, TN; Carmen Evans of Houston, TX; Laila and Olivia Evans of Rosemount, MN; and Kingston Evans of Chattanooga, TN. Each of them will carry her love in their hearts as they grow.

We would also like to acknowledge the invaluable presence of her family members and friends. A special mention to her devoted cousin and friend, Vicki Bolden, who stood by her side, providing support and companionship throughout their lives. Peggy’s friendships are a testament to her kind and loving character, as she had a unique way of making everyone feel special.

Peggy was a proud member of New Creation Baptist Church in Minneapolis, MN, while also holding a close connection to Price Memorial AME Zion in Cleveland, TN. She embodied faith, love, and a commitment to her community.

Her laughter, kindness, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Peggy was a beacon of joy, always ready with a smile and encouraging words. She had a wonderful knack for bringing family and friends together, creating moments filled with warmth and happiness.

As we celebrate her life, let us remember the countless happy memories she gifted us. We hold on to the love she spread and the lessons she imparted, ensuring that her legacy of kindness and joy lives on in each of us. Her family invites all who knew and loved Peggy to join them in remembering her life and the love she shared. May her soul rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of her family who went before her.

Home going celebration service will be held Saturday October 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. At Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church with Pastor Tony Rogers officiating and Rev. Robert Pitner delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Visitation by friends will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. Until 7:00 p.m. At M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home - Cleveland, TN.
