CLINE, PEGGY A., age 93, of Xenia and formerly of Howland, Ohio, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023, at
The Hospice of Dayton.
Peggy graduated from Webster Springs High School, class of '49 and later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Youngstown State University. She retired from Baker Elementary School in Vienna after 27 years of teaching the fourth grade.
After Dick and Peggy married in 1950, Dick was stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL where their children, Judy and Larry were born. In 1956, they moved to Niles/ Warren, Ohio area. Where they resided until Dick passed in 2018 and Peggy moved to be closer to family in 2022. Dick and Peggy were active members of the First Baptist Church in Niles, where they served the Lord faithfully alongside many wonderful friends for 65 years.
Peggy enjoyed being around children, so school teaching and teaching Sunday was a passion of hers. She was always reading her Bible and a good novel. She shared her faith in Jesus to anyone who would listen. When she was younger, every summer she would travel back to where her mom and dad lived and teach Bible School. She loved being around water. Some of her favorite pastimes with her husband included swimming, boating, and fishing on the lake. She loved to cook and keep house. Her true passion was entertaining. She had many friends from the church over for a meal on a regular basis, even up into her 90's. Peggy was always delighted to open up her home to family, friends, missionaries, Pastors, and ministry teams.
She always enjoyed the family reunions back in West Virginia. The family would go skiing in Sutton, WV or would book a cabin at Holly Rivers State Park. She was very proud of her marriage, they had a good life together, and she missed her husband dearly after he passed away. For their 50th Anniversary, they traveled overseas on a cruise. They traveled through Europe, Egypt, and to the Holy Land, Israel. As a classy lady she also had a tom-boy side. She liked having fancy things and dressing up. At the same time, she enjoyed fishing and playing baseball with her nieces and nephews and later her grandchildren. The grandchildren use to call her "Gram". She had a firecracker personality. When playing cards or dominos, she wouldn't let the kids win, they had to earn it.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Richard "Dick" Cline, Sr., in 2018; her son, Lawrence "Larry" Cline, Jr.; her parents, Emmit "Rab" and Golda "Goldie" Cool; two brothers, Charles "Bill" and Dixon "Bud" Cool; one sister, Patricia Green. She is survived by one daughter, Judy (Dennis) Lowstetter; four grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Perry, Mike (Erin) Lowstetter, Tim (Noelle) Cline, Matt (Missy) Lowstetter; 20 great-grandchildren, Samuel (Rachael), Lauren, Nicholas (Danielle), Julia (Noah), Merrick, Abigail, Isabelle, Lincoln, Levi, Tyler, Ella, Cooper, Luke, Chase, Noah, Asher, Mercy, Knox, Jones, and Rose; two great-great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Winona; two sisters, Carol Hooper and Sandra (Scrap) Bruffy; and beloved by numerous nieces and nephews.
