Peggy Garcia Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 17, 2025.
Peggy Garcia loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely. She devoted her entire life to them until her last breath. Her love was never a question to any of us! And as for missing us, we've got news for you, "We miss you more!".

Peggy was born on a farm in Sheridan, MO in the winter of 1939. She moved to St Joseph, MO and went to school there until 1953. In 1956 she moved to Gardena into the "Boatyard" with her Mom & Dad. On August 30, 1958, she married Eddie Garcia, and they had 4 children, Cris, Rose, Dev & Angel. By 1969, she was divorced, and a single mom working full time to pay the bills and raise 4 kids. From that point on, her kids became top priority in her life and every sacrifice she made was in devotion to her family.

Peggy retired from Occidental/Transamerica where she worked for over 30 years. She began volunteering as a driver for the Meals-on-Wheels program in Gardena where she served her community for 25 years before retiring in 2025. She loved all things crafts and all things travel, but most of all she loved spending quality time with her kids & grandkids and Great-grandkids.

Peggy was big on family traditions. We spent almost every holiday together, although Christmas was some of our most memorable times as a family. The annual Nutcracker Performances , in any format, were instrumental in our traditional holiday celebrations Many of us are grateful to have years of handcrafted ornaments and nutcrackers to show for it.

Although Peggy struggled with Colitis & Crohn's Disease since she was 28, she refused to let it limit her as she continued to live her life to the fullest. She was recently diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Ten days after her first Oncology appointment, on October 10, 2025, she passed with 4 generations of family surrounding her in love.

She is survived by her brother and his wife Steve & (Cathy), 4 children and their spouses Cris & (Katie), Rose, Dev, Angel & (Chris), 8 grandkids Jennifer & (Troy), Danielle & (Dom), Cristin, Jenna, Valerie & (Eric), Nick, Kevin, and Samantha, and, 3 great grandkids Garrett, Chloe & Shae. There is nothing her family would not do for her. She taught us everything. Unconditional love and kindness is what she embodied every day in her best way. Peggy set the tone for what a person would do for family, creating an amazing legacy for generations to come.
