Margaret Mary "Peggy" Heaslet, 88, of
Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Born in
Miami, Florida February 28, 1937, Peggy later moved to Titusville in the late 1970s before settling in Melbourne in 2004. She proudly served for 26 years as a corrections officer, a chapter of her life she jokingly referred to as her time "in jail." Known and respected by inmates as "Miss Peggy," she carried herself with confidence, strength, and an unmistakable presence.
Peggy was sassy, classy, and unforgettable. She had a sharp wit and an amazing-sometimes slightly dark-sense of humor that kept those around her laughing. She enjoyed mystery novels, jazz music, singing, and had a deep love for Elvis. Ever multifaceted, Peggy was also proud to be a certified carburetor repairwoman, a skill she wore with pride. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and believed strongly in always leaving the house looking her best-polished, put-together, and elegant.
She was preceded in death by her brother, BJ Lambke, and by Raymond Curtis Heaslet, whom she married in her early and mid-life. Together, they raised seven children.
Peggy is survived by her children: Robert "Bob" Heaslet (Linda), Johanna "Terry" Horace (John), Patricia "Patty" Palermo, Kathleen "Kathy" Ralya (Mike), William "Bill" Heaslet (Caryn), Raymond "David" Heaslet (Sharon), and Joseph "Joey" Heaslet (Elizabeth); as well as 18 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and her chosen sister Wendy Cramer all of whom were a great source of pride and joy in her life.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 16, 2026, from 3:00–5:00 PM at North Brevard Funeral Home at 1450 Norwood Ave,
Titusville, FL 32796 . A Catholic Mass will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10 am at St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church at 203 Ojibway Ave,
Titusville, Florida 32780.
Peggy will be remembered for her strength, humor, unmistakable style, and the lasting impression she left on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
