Peggy Johnston

Peggy Johnston, of Tyler, Texas, passed away surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church and a proud graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Class of 1963. She spent 18 years working for Brookshire Grocery Company, serving in many different roles with dedication and kindness. After retiring, Peggy found her greatest joy in caring for her numerous grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness and purpose.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Edgar Bryant Shelton; mother, Edith Hope Shelton; brother, Richard Bryant Shelton; and daughters, Ginger Gale Johnston and Angela Kay Johnston.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Dale Johnston of Tyler; son, Michael Johnston and wife, Tracy; brother, Craig Shelton and wife, Melissa; sister, Cindy Murphy; and her cherished grandchildren: Chase Hobbs and wife Rachael, Kassie Hopkins and husband Marcus, Trevor Paine and wife Caroline, Brooke Korthauer and husband Blake, and Drew Johnston.
Her legacy continues through her beloved great-grandchildren: Grayson Hobbs, Eli Hobbs, Zaiden Hopkins, Kayanna Hopkins, Izabella Hopkins, Corbin Stracener, Logan Paine, Margot Korthauer, and Finley Korthauer.
Peggy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her gentle spirit, and the love she poured into her family and friends. Her life was a reflection of grace, service, and devotion-a legacy that will live on in all who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be Chase Hobbs, Trevor Paine, Cameron Shelton, Brad Shelton, Justin Murphy, and Marcus Hopkins.
Visitation is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., and the Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Southside Baptist Church, 15330 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, Texas 75703.
