Peggy King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Feb. 16, 2026.
January 21, 1937 – February 11, 2026

Peggy Jo King, 89, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026. She was born on January 21, 1937, to James Campbell and Faye Campbell, both of whom preceded her in death along with her stepfather Huston Cox.

Peggy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose entire life revolved around her family. Nothing brought her more joy than caring for those she loved. She was especially known for her cooking, and her family will forever cherish memories of her Sunday pot roast, crispy fried chicken, and the pumpkin rolls she lovingly made during the holidays.

Peggy had a beautiful gift for music. She loved to sing and shared her talent professionally, performing at weddings and funerals throughout the years. Her voice brought comfort in times of sorrow and joy in times of celebration.

She was a dedicated and hardworking woman. When she committed to a job, she gave it her all-working rain or shine, even walking to work when necessary just to fulfill her responsibilities. Her strength, determination, and unwavering work ethic were a testament to her character.

A devoted Christian, Peggy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She was known for her fiery personality, her willingness to speak her mind, and what many lovingly described as her "spunky love." She was a strong woman whose presence could fill a room.

Peggy is survived by her four children: Annette Brown; Brian King and wife Cheryl; Gina Wood and husband James; and Michael King and wife Arrah. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, as well as her sister, Jennifer Conant and 1 niece and 1 great niece and 1 great nephew.

Peggy's legacy of faith, strength, music, and fierce love for her family will live on for generations to come.
