Shackelford Funeral Directors of SelmerPeggy Lou Coke Howell, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was born on October 26, 1942, in McNairy County, Tennessee, to the late Roy Lee and Ella Mae Stanfield Coke.
On May 15, 1961, Peggy Lou was united in marriage with Herbert H. Howell, with whom she joyfully shared 51 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. Together, they built a life filled with warmth and enduring commitment.
A woman of vibrant spirit, Peggy Lou found great pleasure in traveling, especially her trips to the casinos, and she was an avid reader, delighting in the stories and knowledge books brought her. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories and nurturing bonds that will forever live in their hearts.
On March 28, 2026, Peggy Lou peacefully departed this life in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 2 days. She leaves behind a loving family, including her three devoted sons: Timothy Howell and his wife Teri June of Arlington, Tennessee; Kerry Howell of Savannah, Tennessee; and Jason Howell and his wife Wendy of Bartlett, Tennessee. She also is survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and friends who will hold her memory dear.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Peggy Lou was preceded in death by her sister, Betty (Coke) Taylor, and her brother, Edward Coke.
As we remember Peggy Lou Coke Howell, we celebrate a life well-lived, rich with family, laughter, and heartfelt connections that will endure across generations.
