Peggy Sue Palmer, age 94, formerly of
Sikeston, MO, died Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Auburn Creek Assisted Living Center in
Cape Girardeau, MO.
Born January 6, 1931, at
Preston, Mississippi, to the late Henderson Rosamond and Clara Luke Rosamond, she was the middle child of 15 children. She lived most of her life in Mississippi County and after moving to Sikeston she became a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.
On April 16, 1949, she married William Chalmers Palmer, who preceded her in death September 8, 1994.
Peggy was a hard worker, filling the duties of a farm wife, a cook in restaurants and high school in Charleston. She also worked several years at Burkart's in
Cairo, IL, and Gates Rubber Co. in Charleston where she retired. She was a 50 + year member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Charleston and Sikeston, as well as a long-time member of the
Sikeston, MO Chapter #137 of the Eastern Star where she worked many years helped with cooking the annual ham and beans dinners.
Surviving are is her son, William Wayne (Barbara) Palmer of Sikeston; her daughters, Kathy Honeycutt of
Jonesboro, AR, Karen (Michael) Vandas of
Arnold, MO, Sharon (Philip) Thomas of
Monroe, LA and Terri (Chuck) Leible of Sikeston; her daughter-in-law Carol Sue (Scott) Palmer of Charleston; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; her brother, Joseph Rosamond of
Forest City, AR; her sisters, Lota Wiechsel of
Salt Lake City, UT and Elaine Hayes of
Smyrna, TN; also dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Lee Palmer, her brothers and sisters, Juaquin Coward, Carolyn Skipper, Margaret Wakefield, Sandra Bargaineer, Rachel Rosamond, Dorothy Phillips, Guy Ray Rosamond, Forest Luke Rosamond, Eugene Rosamond, Benjamin Rosamond and Glenn Rosamond.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:30 am on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at McMikle Funeral Home in
Sikeston, MO. Rev. Paullester Walker will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston. After the interment, lunch will be served at the Wesley United Methodist Church in
Sikeston, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pilots for Patients, a non-profit volunteer pilot organization based in

Pallbearers will be Todd Palmer, Josh Nelson, Richard Haney, Scott Glenn, Lee Thomas Moody and Lane Walker Moody.
