Peggy Joyce Pittman was born on September 25, 1940, in
Chunky, Mississippi. From an early age, Peggy's life was guided by a strong Christian faith that remained central throughout her years.
Peggy married the late Donell Pittman, and together they shared 23 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on February 10, 1987. Their love and commitment were evident to all who knew them. Also preceding Peggy in death were her brother, Charles Moore; sisters, Sara King and Patricia Pittman, and beloved son-in-law, William Moore.
A devoted mother, Peggy lovingly raised her children: daughters and son-in-law, Pamela and Robert Pettus, and Traci Moore, and sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Barbara Pittman, and Wesley and Suzy Pittman, William "Billy" Moore, Alita and Steve Clark, and Beth and Jarrett Lalas. Family was always Peggy's greatest treasure. She is also survived by her brothers, William "Willie" Moore and James "Buster" Moore, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Peggy found immense joy in being a grandmother and cherished time spent with her grandchildren: Mackenzie Moore, Madison Moore, Tristan Pettus, Whitney and Andy Lundskow, Lisa and Chris Thornhill, David and Shawna Pittman, and Billie Jo Pittman. She also loved her great-grandchildren very much. Being with her family and friends was one of her greatest joys. She enjoyed family gatherings at her home and was the backbone of her family. They relied on her for her strength and compassion.
Known for her adventurous spirit, Peggy enjoyed traveling and embracing new experiences. In her later years, Peggy resided in Villa Rica, Georgia, with her daughter, Traci. Peggy Joyce Pittman peacefully departed this life on December 25, 2025, at the age of 85. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Moore and Opal Moore; her husband, Donell Pittman; and her siblings Charles Moore, Sara King, and Patricia Pittman.
A celebration of Peggy's life will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will follow at Peachtree Memorial Park. The family will gather with friends prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Peggy Joyce Pittman's memory will live on through the lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the love she so freely shared.
