Peggy Sue Quintero, age 78, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at CRMC in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Peggy was born to Benjamin "Benny" Morrow and F. Helen (Thornton) Morrow on March 10, 1946.
She went to grade school at the Thompson Schoolhouse. A one-room schoolhouse. She used to laugh, telling people how there were only three in her grade! She graduated from Altamont High School. She and her daughter went to her 60-year class reunion last year!
Peggy tried many different jobs in her lifetime. She waited tables, sewed in a sewing factory, was a bartender, and worked at Jencast. Later, she found the career she truly loved. She worked with domestic abuse victims.
Peggy married William "Bill" Garrison. They later divorced. This marriage produced two daughters, Judy Sue (Garrison) Bolton and Sandy Lynne (Garrison) Davis.
She later married Gene Quintero. They later divorced. This marriage produced two sons, Michael Lee Quintero and Marcus Gene Quintero.
Peggy was preceded in death by both of her parents, as well as two of her children, Judy Sue Bolton and Michael Lee Quintero and granddaughter, Julie Mae Garrison.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Sandy Lynne Davis, and son, Marcus Gene Quintero, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Vinnia Jane Rexwinkle and Bonnie Jean (Bud) Schultz. She also had her "bonus" boys, Troy Frazier, Ron (Timer) Sjolander and Don (Topper) Sjolander and many nieces and nephews.
When Peggy was young, she was an avid horsewoman. She was in saddle club, went to Cavalcade in Pawhuska, and even had the title "Queen" once. Peggy always loved reading and playing board games, cards, marble and dice games. She enjoyed dancing and later learned and enjoyed playing pool.
Peggy was beautiful with a bright smile. She had a huge heart with a listening ear. Peggy had a GREAT sense of humor. She was a warrior. She went through so many tough times in her life. Between losses of her loved ones, she also beat Stage 4 breast cancer. She was the heart of her family and will be forever missed.
Peggy's celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Bluff Camp in Coffeyville, Kansas.
