Kathleen (Kathy) Linda Craig passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 65, following a long illness.

Born on January 13, 1960, in Honolulu, HI, to Philip Sadler and Janet (Sadler) Yokoyama, Kathy spent her childhood in Spring Lake, North Carolina, with her parents Philip and Joretta Sadler. Before her senior year, she moved with her family to Independence, Kansas, marrying Bob Craig on June 17, 1978, creating a beautiful life with him and their two children, Kara and David.

Kathy dedicated her career to public service at the Montgomery County Courthouse, where she worked as an administrative assistant in the Appraisers' office and later as Deputy Clerk in the Clerk's office, retiring in 2024.

Maya Angelou said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel," and Kathy had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel loved and valued.

Outside of work, she enjoyed shopping trips with her family, particularly to flea markets, and looked forward to attending an annual fundraising event with her daughter. She was an avid reader who always had a book nearby. Her grandpets held a special place in her heart, especially Bec, who was very protective of Grandma. Above all, Kathy's love for her family was evident in everything she did.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Robert (Bob) Craig; daughter Kara Mishmash (Ron); son David Craig; mother Janet (Sadler) Yokoyama; brothers Christopher (Pam) Sadler and Philip (Butch) (Pat) Sadler; sister Risa (Pedro) Segura; nieces Lisa, Heather, Stephanie, Crystal, and Kristy; nephews Pedro (Mike), Michael, and Sean; and numerous great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Philip Sadler, and mother, Joretta Sadler.

Kathy's life embodied Helen Keller's words: "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Her love and legacy will be felt deeply in the hearts of those who knew her.

Following Kathy's wishes, cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. No public services are scheduled at this time. To leave a message for the family online, visit Kathy's memorial page at www.dwbfh.com
