Peggy Stone Riggsbee, age 93, of Morrisville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025. She was the daughter of the late John and Ethel Stone of Morrisville, N.C. Peggy is preceded in death by her Husband of 65 years, Jack, sisters, Dorothy Dowd (Victor), and Anne Council (George).
She is survived by her daughters: Jacqueline Riggsbee Woodcock (the late Phil), Cynthia Riggsbee Hobby (Eddie), and Amy Riggsbee Gilbert; and her sweet cat, Sophie; grandchildren: Nicholas Hobby (Brandi), Kristina Hobby-Strickland (Binford), Michael Gilbert (Audrey), and Jordan Gilbert; great-grandchildren: Savannah Hobby Strickland and Stone Gilbert.
Peggy graduated from the original Green Hope High School, where she played basketball and met her lifelong love, Jack. Later, she returned to school and earned her nursing degree from Watts School of Nursing. She faithfully served as a nurse at Apex Hospital, the office of Dr. Pearson in Apex, N.C., and The Forest at Duke.
Peggy lived a life defined by compassion and service. She dedicated her life to caring for others-whether raising her children, nurturing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, or tending to patients. With a gentle voice and kind heart, Peggy brought comfort and warmth to everyone in her presence. Her deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and shaping her legacy of love, grace, and service to others.
Her family would like to thank Transitions LifeCare (founded as Hospice of Wake County) for their love and support provided to Peggy and her family during her stay there.
The family will have a private graveside service. The funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday, May 30, 2025, at Westwood Baptist Church, 200 Westhigh St. Cary, NC 27513.
