Peggy Morris Rouse, 86, of Seven Springs, NC, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 15, 2023.
Peggy was born on August 20, 1937, in Simpsonville, SC, to the late Fred K. Morris and Mae Morris. She was a graduate of Grainger High School in Kinston and Lenoir Community College. She then made her career at Lenoir Community College in the admissions department before retiring after many years of service. Peggy married the love of her life, John Lyndwood Rouse in 1959, and spent over six decades together. They shared many happy memories, such as fishing on their boat at Topsail Beach, devoting time to the VFW and Gideons, and supporting the Campbell University Divinity School. She loved being a Granny to her only grandchild, Campbell. She enjoyed attending Campbell's dance recitals and passing on her love of baking.
Peggy was a woman of strong Christian faith and valued her time as a member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lyndwood Rouse; brother, Fred K. Morris, Jr.; and sisters, Jerry Kipler and Sarah Barbour.
Peggy is survived by her son, John Lyndwood Rouse, Jr. and wife, Monica; granddaughter, Campbell; daughter, Peggy Joyce Rouse, Jr.; special friends, Laurie Sutton and Jeraldine Hill; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held at Pleasant View Presbyterian Church on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends in the hour before the service. A private burial will be held at a later date.
